Outbreaks of emerging viruses are increasing in frequency and can have devastating effects on human and animal health as well as disruption of national economies and healthcare systems. Given these concerns, a major research priority is to better understand how and why emerging viruses such as influenza virus, Ebola virus, Zika virus, and SARS-CoV-2 cause human and animal disease. Here at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization and International Vaccine Centre (VIDO-InterVac), located in the heart of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on the University of Saskatchewan campus, our research teams have strong virology, immunology, and host response research programs and researchers that are internationally recognized for their strengths and expertise. Our emerging virus research are utilizing viral pathogenesis research to characterize the mechanisms of disease and identify and design effective vaccines and antivirals. We are in search of ambitious and passionate post-doctoral fellows with virology and/or immunology skills to join our teams.
